"project"
Looking for the latest songs by project? Perhaps somebody suggested this page for you and you don't quite know what to expect. You may have found it while idly browsing somebody's profile on some social networking site. Or maybe you just like typing disturbing keywords into search engines.
Whichever it is, read on for the latest scoop on project, what it's all about, who's involved, and for access to the latest tunes.
What is project?
project is a temporary (probably) musical endeavour by not-quite college students Richard Seniow, Fabian Hummel and Patrick DaCosta. All of us are taking a gap year between high-school and university at the moment — for a variety of different reasons. Out of the resulting boredom and the desire to do something productive (but mostly out of boredom) the idea behind project was born: get together, play music, record some stuff, have fun.
What does project sound like?
See for yourself! All of us have a very broad taste in music, and thus we bring a huge number of different influences to the table. We believe that good music transcends boundaries imposed by concepts such as genre and style, and that a truly skilled group of musicians should be able to play any- and everything. Most of the stuff you can hear right now is hip-hop based, but we play anything from jazz to electronic to downright weird.
So who does what?
- Richard's our front man. He contributes the rap vocals and lyrics, and sometimes messes around with beats. He also does skilled piano work and has hands that span upwards of one and a half octaves. Fellow pianists will appreciate how extreme this is.
- Fabian's the all-round production monkey. He makes most of the beats, as well as doing the recording/mixing/mastering work. Oh yeah, he's also site admin. (That's right, I'm talking about myself in the third person. It's kinda weird.)
- Patrick supplies bass lines, the occasional sax lick and some awesome melodic vocal phrases.
- We also have some guests who provide amazing contributions: João Vitor, arguably the most kick-ass bass player any of us know; Lazar Vukadin, our truly awesome graphic design guy; Aaron Hader, alto saxophonist whizz kid; Nick Appelgren, drummer extraordinaire (although these days he prefers "musician extraordinaire"); and Sofie Fatouretchi, also known as "that bitchy voice in that one song."
Can I hear it? / Can I buy it?
Yes! Head over to the music section and grab the latest stuff. We're currently considering a small-scale CD release — no label, in the range of a few hundred copies or so. If that happens, we'll be sure to post a notice.
How long will it last?
Until the gap year ends. We'll all be heading to different places in England next year, so project will necessarily disband (no pun intended). Who knows what'll happen in the next five years, though. All of us will continue to make music in some form, so there's no telling whether or not project will be revived in any way.
Any live gigs?
Playing live concerts is definitely one of our ambitions. We're gearing up to have a few live shows in the summer, and we think it'll be really cool. We also might have the odd jam session somewhere. Stay tuned, and check our [facebook page] (coming soon) for all the latest info.
I can't speak German! What does it all mean?
We'd provide translations, but that would mean work. And we're lazy. In the meantime, try finding someone who does (speak German, that is), then ask them.
Can I contact you?
We'd love to hear from you. Drop us a line at project@(the name of this site dot com). You can also check out our recently created [facebook page] (coming soon).
